Reality, problems, different points of view. Anomalies of daily life are hidden beneath normality; folly nests in tranquil life. Uneasiness, dissatisfaction, incapability to adapt. The alter ego imposes itself forcefully, suddenly, in spite of everything.
Manuele Cerutti, Clement Page and Sara Rossi, though working in different mediums – painting, drawing, video, photography, installation - and following extremely personal methods, all put up possible, very intimate stories, drawn from everyday life. Often the dream aspect in the work of the three artists takes over, time structure dilates, and loses its regular rhythm. Reality and imagination blend and the aim of searching for oneself dissolves. Dream and vision are relevant factors, perhaps revealing, in the premonition of a future of which we unconsciously predict the development.
Manuele Cerutti makes use of painting and drawing. Scenes referring to different sources (cinema, literature, magazines, life) materialize in his canvases, in which is always possible to find a human presence, an individual, a group or an animal. The events are often taken to the limit between tragic and comic, thus understanding what is happening is not so obvious: normality and madness co-exist because inevitably they are part of modern life.
Clement Page works mainly with film painting and photography, with a strong interest for some of the problematics related to man's relation with his surroundings and with others, but above all with himself. Sleeping disorders, eyesight problems, overwhelming, are some of the concepts analysed in his films, which are produced in very high quality, both technically and aesthetically.
Photographs, postcards, objects and amateur videos found in flee markets or belonging to the artist’s family are the necessary instruments for the work of Sara Rossi. Making use of objects imbued with the past but mixed to the new is the way by which Rossi gives life to stories, where she becomes the director of a film and is able to weave together the fragments giving them new life and a new unity.
During the exhibition will be presented the catalogue Discontinuità narrative/Narrative Discontinuities with texts by Valentina Costa, Erica Fenaroli, Luigi Fassi, Cristiano Godano, Francesca Magnifico and others.
