Artist Statements
“
Behind each work there is the essence of a person, and a story. It is important
for me to know who I am portraying and to have a working title before I do start
making the work. It is through this process, that I establish a very close relationship
with the work, the subject and the process of making it. There is an act of bondage,
a ritual which enables me to “possess” the person that I portrayed.”
“
The struggle of the Everyman is an attempt to challenge human limits by finding
alternate ways to move forward. Within the image, lies an allegorical view on
the protagonist’s idea of reality. Man’s narration on environments,
abandoned or created is an attempt to solidify truth in the photograph. Construction
begins with a physical interpretation of the artist’s reality with the
ability to carry these actions out into the world.”
